American schools typically use a 4.0 grading system, this may differ considerably from what is used
in your school and we strongly advise you to
speak to a local counselor to better assess your chances of admission.
For international students another key requirement is being able to prove your English language proficiency.
All American universities accept the TOEFL exam and most now accept IELTS and PTE also.
Columbia University asks for a minimum of 600 for paper-based TOEFL exams.
Your counselor will be able to help you convert this to an internet-based TOEFL exam or an IELTS or PTE equivalent score.
There are two standardized tests which are used to evaluate students’ preparedness for university-level studies, these are the SAT and the ACT.
To be competitive, Columbia University applicants should aim for an SAT 1 Critical Reading section score range of 690 – 780
and a Math section score range of 700 – 790.
With the ACT, students accepted to Columbia University generally score within a range of 31 – 34.
