The Universidad de Talca is one of 25 institutions of higher education that make up the Council of Presidents of Chilean Universities (CRUCH). Founded in 1981, following the merger of the former headquarters of the Universidad de Chile and of the Universidad Tecnica del Estado (UTE) (State Technical University), it has become progressively one of the main national references of public, non profit higher education, being described by recent rankings and measurements as the best regional State University in Chile. Colchagua Campus has an academic unit focused on training Professional Technicians, continuing education for professional and research and development for the regional and national productive sector in strategic areas related to the wine industry. Campus and Accommodation

The main campus, or Head Office, is located in the city of Talca, capital of the Maule Region. It now has four satellite campuses located in the cities of Talca, Curico, Santa Cruz (Colchagua) and Santiago. Talca Campus: It is located in the northern part of the capital of the Maule Region, 250 kilometers south of Santiago. The buildings of the Departments of Health Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Business Sciences and Legal Sciences, the Institutes, Schools, Vice-Presidencies, Technological Centers and various other agencies and administrative services are distributed in a surface of close to 90 000 square meters. Curico Campus: It is located in the Los Niches sector, to the South-East of the city of Curico, 50 km north of Talca, and concentrates the programs of the Department of Engineering. Santiago Campus:The Santiago Campus emerged as a space to promote the development of graduate programs of academic excellence and to train highly qualified human resources. In its building at 415 Quebec Street, Providencia district, are located the study premises attached to the Department of Law and Social Sciences and to the Business School. Colchagua Campus: It is located in the city of Santa Cruz and was created by the joint effort of a group of businessmen from the O'Higgins Region and the Universidad de Talca to develop a project linked to the needs of regional development. It is an academic unit devoted to training Professional Technicians, continuing education for professional and research and development for the regional and national productive sector in strategic areas related to the wine industry.
