Since its creation as a private university in 1959, Instituto Tecnologico de Buenos Aires (ITBA) is well known thanks to its interest for innovation, technology and academic excellence. The successful professional performance of more than 7,000 alumnae is the best support to ITBAs academic model. ITBAs mission is to educate professionals committed to the development of the country and also competitive at international level. Currently, there are over 7,000 professional graduates from ITBA who develop their careers within the professional world in public and private companies, and even in very successful undertakings and projects of their own. The university is organised in schools, departments and centres which offer undergraduate and graduate courses as well as research programmes. At undergraduate level, there are 8 courses of study of a five-year duration, equivalent to a European Master: Bioengineering Electronic Engineering Industrial Engineering Computer Engineering Mechanical Engineering Naval Architecture Oil Engineering Chemical Engineering Instituto Tecnologico de Buenos Aires is the first private, secular and non-profit university founded in Argentina, created in 1959 and aimed at specializing in the research and teaching of Engineering, Technology and Management. The academic activities started in 1960, when the first group of students started attending it. As time went by, the number of students significantly increased, and also several other specialties were added to academic curriculum. Nowadays,TBA has expanded, and has several locations such as the Graduate School and a Center of Mechanics, among others.

Campus and Accommodation

TBAs location in Puerto Madero is privileged as is easily reachable by public transportation and is within walking distance from landmarks such as the Government House, Plaza de Mayo and the Colon Opera House. TBA has 7 campus sites in Buenos Aires: Software Engineering Campus, Integrated Centre of Mechanical Engineering Development (CIDIM) ITBA does not offer on-campus accommodation. Hence, each student is responsible for making his/her own living arrangements. However TBA can suggest some accommodation including different types of housing available for students in the city of Buenos Aires: hostels, bed + breakfasts, student residences, home stays, apartments, and hotels.

International Student Life

The CEITBA (ITBA Students Centre) aims at providing comprehensive training of students by offering supplementary activities. It organises competitions, conferences and language courses, and it is in charge of a great part of the students activities, among which sports are also included. Some of the sports practiced at the University are the following: Football Volleyball Swimming Tennis Basketball Rowing In addition, the University has a sailboat which may be used by students for sailing at any time and on any day of the week. Also, and through the CEITBA, students may attend courses on chess, photography, welding, AutoCAD and languages (Portuguese, Italian, French, Russian and Chinese). For further information, please visit www.ceitba.org.ar On the other hand, ITBA entered into an agreement with Fundacion Julio Bocca to teach at the University courses on Art History, Argentine Theatre History, Photography and Film Making. The city of Buenos Aires is truly fascinating due to its cultural and social diversity and richness. The "Paris of South America" combines European style with a Latin feeling, and delights visitors and locals alike with its hundreds of statues, parks and plazas, cafes, bookstores, theatres, and world-class restaurants. There is always something to do in this city where soccer matches, concerts and tango shows happen every day of the week, and gather the gregarious "portenos" (habitants of Buenos Aires), who love meeting in public spaces.
